GPSPA Partners with Community Pool Service for 2017 Season
Since we learned of our long-time manager’s decision to focus on his family & career, the Board of the Garrett Park Swimming Pool Association has been working diligently to interview management candidates for the 2017 season. Today, we are pleased to announce that the GPSPA Board voted unanimously to partner with Community Pool Service for all aspects of pool management in 2017.
Who is Community Pool Service (CPS)?
CPS is a highly-rated, year-round, full time pool management business based here in Rockville. For decades, CPS has partnered with GPSPA for the care & maintenance of the pool and its systems. Their crew has ensured that our pools are ready to go Memorial Day weekend and winterized in the fall. They have also been our resident experts for any in-season repairs. CPS staff know our facility, one of many reasons we are confident they will be dedicated to ensuring GPSPA retains the culture and community that we have all grown to love.
Who will work at our pool?
The Board has specified in our contract with Community that our junior members will staff the pool. An experienced CPS pool manager (Board-approved) will lead the team. CPS is committed to providing a valuable and professional work experience for our youth — including online application and lifeguard/CPR/First Aid & hospitality training. To that end, on Saturday, February 18 from 11am-2pm, CPS welcomes our age-eligible members (and their parents) interested in applying for a 2017 position to their Rockville headquarters (7668 Standish Place, Suite C, Rockville, MD 20833). This is an opportunity to learn more about working for CPS and will kick off the hiring process. Additional employment information is available here.
What does this mean for you, our members?
The pool will run much as it has in the past! In March, the Board will email your membership information for 2017. CPS will perform their annual repair and maintenance cycle in the spring, and we will gather on the hill to open the season Saturday, May 27! The Adult Party will go on in July & the Crab Feast in late August. Tollefson Swimming will continue to offer Masters swimming and group lessons. Pool hours will remain the same as years past.
What happens next?
To ensure a smooth transition, CPS and the Board are meeting regularly to prepare for the upcoming season. We hope you will attend the Annual Members meeting (date TBD) in order to learn more about CPS. All this information — and more as we have it — will be shared here on our website.
We welcome questions at any time! If you want more information on employment opportunities, please contact Community’s Neely Cohen at 301-948-2400 x104 or check out their website: www.communitypools.com/employment. If you have a question about your membership, email email@example.com. For general questions about operations and management, contact Board@garrettparkpool.org.
This is an exciting new phase for our pool. We look forward to a stellar 2017 season.
